ASSESSMENT VISIT OF OPHK: GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING 7 DIVISION HOSTS COMMANDER CORPS OF ENGINEERS

The Commander Corps of Engineers (CCE) Major General Shamsideen Shafaru was in Headquarters 7 Division Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) for an operational visit to assess the combat readiness, operational proficiency and the overall welfare of Engineer troops and platforms deployed in the Theatre.

This was contained in a statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Haruna Mohammed SaniActing Deputy Director 7 Division Nigerian army made available to newsmen.

In his words, “I am very delighted and proud of the accomplishments of 7 Division in the ongoing operations, and as a Combat Support Corp we want to ensure that we play our role actively and proficiently, and this can only be done through a holistic assessment of our platforms and troops readiness which are critical to the overall success of the operations” he said.

According to Major General Shafaru, the visit is aimed at ensuring the transformative effort, resilience and adaptability of the Nigerian Army in line with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu Nigerian Army Medal (NAM) command philosophy. “We have been able to acquire more platforms and some will be deployed in OPHK, and further assured of a continuous collaboration and support between the Division and Corps of Engineers.

In his response, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division Nigerian Army OPHK, Brigadier Ugochukwu Unachukwu said, major successes recorded by the Division was due to the professional contribution of the Engineers considering the dangers of Improvised Explosive Devices planted across all the general operational areas.

While extolling the Engineers, he said “our operational activities wouldn’t have been possible if not because of the diligent effort of the 47 engineers brigade. “We as a Division want to appreciate the Nigerian Army Engineer Corps for the immense support, and we will continue to solicit for more combat enablers that will enhance our mission objectives,” he added. 7 Divisions have been living up to expectations and troops are willingly discharging their duties, the GOC said.
