The Speaker of the Federal house of Representatives RT Hon Dr Tajudeen Abbas has joined family, friends, and well-wishers across the nation to celebrate a remarkable matriarch, Alhaja Lateefat Olufunke Gbajabiamila, as she marks her 96th birthday.
The Speaker said at 96, her life stands as a testament to grace, strength, and unwavering service to humanity.
According to him,”Mama’s contributions to healthcare, Islam, women and children, and her far-reaching philanthropic gestures have left indelible footprints on the sands of time.
As a United Kingdom–trained nurse, she devoted her professional life to healing and compassion – a calling she carried out with excellence and dignity”
Dr Tajudeen Abbas particularly commend her leadership qualities and peace-building efforts within her community and beyond.
He noted that her recent conferment with the Doctor of Science (D.Sc. Honoris Causa) in Business Administration by Summit University, Offa, is a fitting recognition of a life richly lived and purposefully invested.
He maintained that “as the revered matriarch of the Gbajabiamila family of Lagos and the beloved mother of my predecessor and current Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, she continues to embody wisdom, resilience, and faith”.
The Speaker therefore added that “In this holy month of Ramadan, I pray that Allah (SWT) grants her more fruitful years in sound health, accepts her prayers and continues to make her life a source of inspiration to generations yet unborn”.
Happy 96th Birthday, Mama.
