As part of activities marking the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day (AFCRD), the Ministry of Defence on Monday, 12 January 2026, hosted a high-level National Symposium and Lecture Series at the National Defence College (NDC), Abuja.
The symposium, themed “Securing Nigeria’s Future: The Armed Forces and National Development,” provided a strategic platform for robust discourse on the evolving role of the Armed Forces in Nigeria’s security landscape and socio-economic development.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, joined the Special Guest of Honour, the Honourable Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd) OFR; the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede; other Service Chiefs; the Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI); and former Service Chiefs at the event, which formed a key highlight of activities commemorating AFCRD 2026.
