An alumni give-back initiative has been launched to foster support for key academic and infrastructure projects within the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

The idea, called ‘Faculty Alumni Give-Back Initiative’, was unveiled when members of the U92PH Class of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences visited the faculty recently (Thursday, 6th November, 2025).

The launch was part of their Silver Jubilee Graduation Anniversary Homecoming. According to them, the idea was essentially to foster structured alumni support for key academic and physical development projects in the faculty.

The class members, who discussed ways they could contribute meaningfully to the faculty advancement, also pledged to partner with the faculty in specific areas of need.

During the visit, they went round the faculty facilities, interacted with staff and students, and expressed joy at the visible growth and development in the faculty after their graduation.

The faculty was greatly encouraged by the show of affection and commitment from the alumni and it was hopeful that the gesture would inspire similar engagements from other alumni of the faculty.

In an address of welcome, the Dean Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Prof Mohammed Garba Magaji, described the initiative as their own way of transforming gratitude into action.

The initiative, according to him, was not only about raising funds but also about rekindling commitments to the faculty through mentorship, support for students, infrastructure development, and collaboration. “We are the first alumni class to come together in this way after 25 years. Other classes are watching us closely.

They are looking up to us for direction and inspiration”, he said. Prof Magaji emphasized that they had each achieved great things individually, saying they could achieve more collectively as one united alumni family.

The Dean expressed gratitude to the university management for its continuous support and for providing the enabling environment that sustained faculty’s growth and pride.
