
The Speaker House of Representatives Dr. Abbas Tajudeen, has condemned in strong term, the attack on the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, and the kidnapping of about 25 students by bandits.
Dr. Tajudeen in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi described the attack, during which some officials were reportedly killed, as unfortunate, gruesome, and despicable.
The Speaker, while lamenting the fate of the students in the hands of the abductors, called for a speedy response by security forces and the timely rescue of the schoolgirls.
While noting that schools should be among the safest places in the country, the Speaker said the attack has severe implications and the trend must be checked by security forces.
He expressed confidence in the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security and intelligence agencies in rescuing the schoolgirls and apprehending the bandits.
The Speaker, who sympathized with the families of the victims, prayed for their safe return to their respective communities.
