The Directorate of Works Federal University of Education, Zaria has hosted a formal ceremony to honor the distinguished service of the Director of Works, Qs Hassan Buba, MNIQS, who is set to retire from the University’s service on December 12, 2025.
The event brought together colleagues, former leadership, and staff from across the Directorate as a testament to Qs Hassan’s enduring impact on the university’s infrastructure and maintenance culture.
In his remarks at the gathering, Qs Hassan expressed gratitude to Allah for guiding him through a career marked by milestones and service.
He paid tribute to the staff of the former Estate Department—now reorganised into the Estate and Maintenance Departments—for their steadfast support.
He noted that the teams had grown into a family whose dedication and collaboration significantly contributed to the Directorate’s successes over the years.
The goodwill messages reflected the breadth of Qs Hassan’s influence. Engr. Arieo Baba Tunde, Acting Director of Maintenance, commended the retiring Director for his extensive knowledge, mentorship, and guidance.
He recalled the shared challenges and achievements that defined their years of service together and offered prayers for continued blessings upon Mal Hassan and his family.
Chief Engr. Aliyu Ango described Qs Hassan as a hardworking and dependable leader, whose principled approach set a high standard for others. Engr. Sunusi Yusuf Audi, former Director of Maintenance, lauded his contributions and the enduring lessons he imparted to staff, emphasizing the positive culture he established within the Directorate.
Other speakers—Engr. Abubakar Hassan, Engr. Sani Mudi, Engr. Murtala Mustapha Suleiman, and Engr. Borman—spoke glowingly of Qs Hassan as a calm, principled, and exemplary administrator whose leadership left a lasting imprint on the Directorate’s operations and professional ethos.
