The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, on Thursday presented the sum of N642,930,818,157.99 before the state House of Assembly as proposed 2026 Appropriation Bill.While presenting the budget, tittle as “Budget of Transformations and People’s Empowerment”,
Governor Idris noted that, the state proposed N3 billion for security trust fund, N30 billion for the Koko-Mahuta- Dabai road as well as sustaining scholarship for the students in the proposed budget.He disclosed that the capital expenditure stands at N479,357,504.27 while N163,573,314,116.82 for the recurrent expenditure.
Governor Idris, explained that the capital expenditure gulp about 75 percent of the total budget while expenditure got 25 percent.”It is a budget of growth, empowerment, and progress. I hereby commit this budget to the house for quick passage”.
He stated that the allocation structure demonstrated the unwavering commitment of his administration to long-term development while maintaining essential operational stability.
He added that the budget would be financed through a main envelope of N338.506billion from the State’s share of its federal allocation, Value Added Tax and Internally Generated Revenue.
The Governor also stated that this would be complemented by capital receipts of the budget via development partnerships and targeted financing instruments.
He pointed out that the key sectoral priorities include agriculture and Infrastructure through the Ministries of Works, Health and Basic Education.”These priority areas have been chosen based on their capabilities to deliver sustainable growth and shared prosperity.
In his remark, the Speaker, Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammad Usman Zuru, assured the Governor that the House would ensure a speedy passage of the budget within one week.
