Funtua LGA Chairman and District Head Lead Stakeholders’ Meeting on Upcoming Polio Immunization Campaign.

The Chairman of Funtua Local Government Area, Alhaji Abdulmutallab Sulaiman Goya and the Sarkin Maskan Katsina, District Head of Funtua, Alhaji Sambo Idris Sambo, has led a high-level stakeholders’ meeting in preparation for the forthcoming Polio Immunization Campaign.

The meeting was held at the Funtua Local Government Chamber and attended by health officials, traditional leaders, religious leaders, security agencies, and other key stakeholders.

During the meeting, Chairman Abdulmutallab Sulaiman Goya reaffirmed the commitment of the local government to ensuring a successful vaccination exercise.

He stated that his administration continues to invest heavily in the health sector, noting that in the current week alone, he provided financial support amounting to nearly ₦1 million to cover medical procedures for Three residents of the community.

The Chairman expressed gratitude to the traditional institution, religious leaders, health workers, and security personnel for their continuous support, cooperation, and prayers.

He further called for sustained collaboration to maintain Funtua’s strong record in polio eradication efforts.

The Director Physical and Health care Department, Alhaji Sa’adu Haruna, announced that the upcoming polio vaccination exercise is scheduled to hold from Saturday, 29th November 2025 to Tuesday and Wednesday for mop-up activities.

He explained that preparatory meetings are customary before each campaign to strengthen strategies for effective implementation. He also highlighted that a special performance competition will be held across the 34 local government areas in Katsina State, with recognition for the best-performing Local government.

The Local Immunization Officer (L.I.O), Alhaji Salihu Hussaini, presented the feedback and outcome of the recent Measles–Rubella campaign conducted in October, outlining both achievements and areas where challenges were encountered.

In his remarks, the Sarkin Maskan Katsina and District Head of Funtua, Alhaji Sambo Idris Sambo, assured the gathering of the readiness of the traditional rulers and religious leaders to fully support the campaign.

He expressed confidence that Funtua LGA will emerge as the leading local government in the upcoming exercise, while calling on parents and guardians to cooperate by presenting their children for vaccination.
