
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure has inaugurated a committee to review the draft Condition of Service, Scheme of Service for both junior and senior staff, as well as the Guidelines and Template for Appointment, Promotion, and Placement in the University.
These three documents are to be developed as part of the University’s transition and takeoff processes.
The Vice-Chancellor explained that although similar documents already exist, they were designed for the former College system. The University now requires updated versions aligned with its new status and mandate.
The committee is expected to examine the documents to ensure compliance with applicable laws and University regulations; alignment with existing or emerging Human Resource policies; clarity and absence of ambiguity in language and procedures; as well as fairness and transparency in staff management, among other considerations.
The 11-member committee is chaired by Professor Yahaya Isa Bunkure, with Barr. Muhammad Saminu Abubakar serving as Secretary.
Other members include Mal. Shehu Iya Sa’idu, Ag. Registrar; Prof. Haruna Danja, Ag. Dean, Faculty of Social Science and Vocational Education; Dr. Ubale Ismaila Alhaji, representing academic staff; and Mal. Abdullahi Ibrahim, representing non-teaching staff.
Also on the committee are Mal. A. A. Galadima, Establishment Secretary; Dr. Rabi Bara’u, Deputy Director, Academic Planning; Barr. Aliyu Hayatuddeen, Head, Legal Unit; Mr. Peter Kuchaks; and Dr. Omwirhiren Efe Mouson, Chief Lecturer.
A statement signed by Sani Lawal Maqarphy, media aid to the VC said while inaugurating the committee, the Vice-Chancellor urged the members to work diligently and ensure timely completion of the assignment within the stipulated framework of two weeks.
