The National Executive Council Members of the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) and the Assembly of Healthcare Professional Associations, AHPA, have declared an indefinite nationwide strike with effect from Friday midnight 14 November, 2025 over prolonged delay in the adjustment of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure .
This is contained in a statement issued by the National Chairman of JOHESU, Comrade Kabiru Ado Minjibir after the National Executive Council meeting on Friday in Abuja.
He said despite signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Government on 29 October 2024 at the end of a seven-day warning strike, there had been no positive response to their demands, despite assurances from the government.
The Unions also raised the issue of non-implementation of the High-Level Body Committee report on the adjustment of CONHESS, submitted to the Presidential Committee on Salaries and Wages in 2022.
‘’The MDAs had frequently blamed the delay on the non-reconstitution of the Presidential Committee on Salaries, since the reconstitution of the PCS, the matter was not given priority attention’’ he stated
Comrade Ado Minjibir directed all JOHESU affiliate unions to withdraw their services from all Federal Health Institutions nationwide.
Similarly state councils of the unions were also directed to issue 15-day strike notices to their respective state governments, in compliance with labour laws.
