*VC FUE ZARIA FLAGS OFF TVET IN THE INSTITUTION*

The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Education Zaria (FUEZ), Professor Yahaya Isa Bunkure, officially launched the Federal Government’s Technical, Vocational, and Education Training (TVET) scheme for successful applicants in a ceremony held at Dr. Suleiman Balarabe Senate Chamber of the University on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

During the ceremony, Professor Bunkure welcomed and congratulated the successful applicants, acknowledging the privilege of being selected from numerous candidates for this important initiative.

He urged the trainees to be punctual, attentive, and focused in their studies to acquire the necessary knowledge and practical skills for self-empowerment and self-reliance.This is contained in a statement from the directorate of information & protocol, office of the Vice Chancellor of the university made available to newsmen.

The Vice Chancellor emphasized that the TVET program aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and fits within the university’s strategic work plan. He expressed pride in the institution’s intention to implement a mandatory entrepreneurship skills acquisition course for graduating students.

Professor Bunkure also extended his gratitude to the organizers at the Federal Ministry of Education for selecting FUEZ, recognized as the “First University of Education” in the North West, as one of the training centers for this initiative.

In her remarks, Dr. Mrs. Amina Sani, the Director of the Directorate of Skills Acquisition Development and Linkages (DSDL), expressed her excitement for hosting this significant event, which is coordinated by the World Bank. The TVET program aims to provide practical skills, competencies, and entrepreneurship training for sustainable development.

Dr. Amina outlined the various fields in which training would be provided, including animal husbandry, fish farming, phone repairs, fashion design, poultry, painting, crop production, electrical installations, and plumbing. She highlighted that the scheme is designed to equip individuals with practical skills to become job creators rather than job seekers.

Dr. Amina urged the trainees to maintain punctuality, diligence, and attentiveness during the program, noting that allowances would be granted based on attendance. She encouraged prospective trainees to complete their forms accurately, as training by experienced instructors will commence on Monday, October 20, 2025.

In his vote of thanks, Yushau Usman, the Desk Officer of the Directorate, thanked Almighty Allah, the Vice Chancellor, and his management team for their logistical support in successfully hosting the flag-off ceremony. He urged the trainees to be disciplined, dedicated, and punctual to maximize the benefits of the program and wished all attendees safe travels back to their respective destinations.

The event was attended by notable figures including the Acting Registrar, Alhaji Shehu Iya Sa’idu, Acting Bursar Alhaji Mohammed Kabir Aliyu, Director of Academic Planning, Directors of Works/Maintenance, Dean of Student Affairs, and various other Directors, Deans, Heads of Departments/Units, Chief Security Officer, staff, and students of the institution.
