The Executive Chairman of Zaria Local Government Council, Engr. Jamil Ahmad Muhammad Jaga, has led a team of Supervising Engineers from the Federal Ministry of Works on an extensive inspection tour of major ongoing road projects across Zaria.
A statement signed by the chief press secretary office of the chairman Ishaq Galadima said the team was headed by the State Controller of Works, Engr. Loveday, and Engr. Sadik Maccido.
The inspection commenced at the Agwaro Underpass, where stormwater channelization and diversion structures are being constructed to enhance the collection and discharge of runoff water.
From there the team then proceeded to the Danmagaji Service Lane via Muslim Specialists Hospital, where pavement surfacing is currently in progress.
At Wusasa Road, stretching from St. Luke’s Hospital to the Kofar Doka Flyover, the inspection covered drainage and retaining wall works.
The team also reviewed the failed sections of Barewa Road and the Agoro–Kofar Doka Dual Carriageway to determine appropriate corrective measures.
Further assessments were conducted from Nagoyi Junction Road to Kofar Gayan, and from Kofar Gayan to Amana via Turunku, a newly initiated project sponsored by the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Along the route, the team evaluated aging culverts affected by erosion to plan for rehabilitation.
Speaking during the exercise, Chairman Jaga emphasized that the visit was aimed at ensuring quality project delivery, identifying areas needing urgent intervention, and reaffirming the council’s commitment to sustainable infrastructural development across Zaria.
Upon returning to the council secretariat, the Chairman received 17 newly passed-out police officers, all proud indigenes of Zaria Local Government, who recently graduated from the Kaduna Police College. Their recruitment, facilitated by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, marks another milestone in youth empowerment and community security enhancement.
The council extended support to the officers with financial assistance for the purchase of boots, uniforms, and essential items, reaffirming its dedication to supporting local talents and strengthening grassroots security architecture.
Later in the day, the Chairman paid compassionate visits to the mother of Fahad Kabir Baba-Trader, currently receiving treatment at the Accident and Emergency Department of ABUTH, Shika, where he also extended support to other patients.
He also visited Alhaji Salisu Na’Ayuba of Tudun Jukun and Anas, Secretary of Polling Unit 011, Kongo, who recently lost a leg to illness, offering prayers and words of encouragement for their speedy recovery.
In his reflection, Chairman Jaga noted that:
“Every inspection, every handshake, and every visit reminds me that governance is not just about projects and policies, but about the wellbeing, dignity, and hope of our people
