Today, in line with my announcement on Thursday, admission letters have been issued to the 1,000 beneficiaries of my undergraduate scholarship programme to pursue various courses at the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA), Katsina State.

This is being implemented under the Barau I Jibrin Foundation (BIJF) to provide education to all our citizens.

I was ably represented at the event by my distinguished colleague, Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila (Kano South), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Downstream Petroleum. He also donated N20,000 to each of the beneficiaries as his contribution.

During the event, the Kano South Students Association (KASOSA) and Kano Central Students Association (KACESA) presented an award of excellence in recognition of my efforts to support education and establish the FUDMA Study Centres in their various senatorial districts.

Among the dignitaries who graced the occasion are the Minister for State Housing and Urban Development, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, representative of the state Minister of the FCT, Dr Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, Managing Director of the North West Development Commission (NWDC), Professor Abdullahi Shehu Maaji, Vice Chancellor of Bayero University Kano, Professor Haruna Musa, former Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, academicians, party leaders, among others.

I urge the beneficiaries to take full advantage of this golden opportunity to be committed to their studies.

We will continue to invest in the future of our youth – their success is the success of our nation.
