The passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari is a heavy blow – one that has shaken me deeply. I received the news with great shock and sadness.
Baba Buhari was more than a former Head of State and ex-President. He was a symbol of discipline, modesty, and incorruptibility – a man whose life journey was etched in service to Nigeria.
He lived simply, led with integrity, and served without greed. Whether as a soldier or a civilian president, he stayed true to his convictions. Even those who disagreed with him could not doubt his patriotism or his love for this nation.
His bond with the North and his cult-like followership were not accidental – they were earned through years of sacrifice, consistency, and discipline. His role in forming the APC and bringing an end to PDP’s 16-year dominance in 2015 was nothing short of historic.
At 82, he had chosen quiet retirement. But Allah (SWT) has now called him to eternal rest. We are all mortals. We belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return.
I pray that Allah forgives his shortcomings, accepts his good deeds, and grants him Aljannatul Firdaus.
To his family, to the people of Daura and Katsina, to those in Kaduna who knew him closely – and indeed to all Nigerians – I extend my heartfelt condolences.
