A former Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Oyo State, Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, has called on Nigerians—particularly Muslims—to extend support to the less privileged as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.

In a Sallah message issued by his media aide, Oladipo Adegoke, in Ibadan, Aleshinloye emphasized the importance of fostering peace, unity, and mutual understanding among citizens.

“As we mark Eid-el-Kabir, may the values of sacrifice, compassion, and gratitude guide our actions. I pray that Allah’s blessings continue to shine upon us,” he said. “I applaud the Muslim community for their steadfastness and devotion. Let us demonstrate empathy and generosity by reaching out to the needy and those of other faiths during this celebration to strengthen bonds of friendship, peace, and solidarity.”

Aleshinloye, who is also the Deputy National Chairman of NALGON, urged Muslims to use the occasion to renew their commitment to peace, security, and the Islamic virtues exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

He also called on Nigerians to offer prayers for the nation’s leaders and for the peace, unity, and socio-economic advancement of the country.

“What the nation needs now is patience and unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration to fast-track progress and comprehensive national development,” he said. “Peace and unity should remain our collective priority.”
