POLICE FOIL CULT INITIATION, ARREST TWO SUSPECTS, RECOVER FIREARM IN UYO

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded another operational breakthrough in its sustained crackdown on cultism and related criminal activities across the State.

A statement signed by the command public relations officer DSP Timfon John on behalf of the state commissioner of police Baba Mohammad Azare said on 20th March 2026, at about 1200hrs, operatives of the Command, acting on credible intelligence, swiftly mobilized to an uncompleted building located off Oron Road, Uyo, where members of the notorious Red Skin Confraternity were reportedly conducting initiation activities.

It said on sighting the Police patrol team, the suspects took to their heels in a desperate attempt to evade arrest.

The operatives, however, engaged them in a hot chase, which led to the arrest of two suspects:

Clement Edem ‘M’ and Isaac Henry ‘M’.

According to the statement a thorough search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of a locally made pistol.

Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspects are active members of the Red Skin Confraternity and were participating in an initiation exercise before the operation disrupted their activities.

The suspects have provided useful information, including the names of other members of the cult group currently at large.

Efforts have been intensified and are in top gear to apprehend the fleeing members.

The Command reiterates its zero tolerance for cultism and warns all criminal elements to desist from such unlawful activities or face the full weight of the law.

Parents and guardians are also advised to monitor the activities of their wards and discourage them from engaging in cult-related activities.

The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, assures residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the State.

Members of the public are encouraged to continue to support the Police with timely and credible information.
