Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has stepped up his grassroots development campaign with unveiling and groundbreaking of key infrastructure projects in Shongom and Kaltungo Local Government Areas.

Speaking during the foundation-laying ceremony for Pero-Chonge Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Filiya, the Governor explained that the establishment of the 14 LCDAs was aimed at bringing governance and development closer to the grassroots.

He emphasized that while the LCDAs and existing Local Government Areas would concentrate on critical sectors such as security, health, education and agriculture, the state government would focus on policy direction and major infrastructure to ensure comprehensive and coordinated development.

Addressing the longstanding electricity challenge in the area, Governor Inuwa Yahaya assured residents that within the next four months, a dedicated mini-grid power project would be completed to serve 52 communities with renewable green energy.

He urged the people to protect public infrastructure within their communities to guarantee sustainability and long-term benefits.

During his visit, Governor Inuwa Yahaya inspected the Filiya-Gundale Road and directed that the project be extended to Gwandum, Daja, and other major communities until it connects with the Taraba State boundary.

The Governor directed the contractor to complete the project before the onset of the rainy season to enable residents begin using the road and alleviate the challenges they currently face.

Other projects flagged off or inspected included the mini solar grid in Filiya, the Government Lodge and the newly rebuilt Shongom Local Government Secretariat in Boh, which had been destroyed by fire and abandoned for over a decade before the present administration reconstructed it.

The Governor later proceeded to Kaltungo, where he inspected the newly renovated and furnished Kaltungo LGA secretariat, upgraded to improve service efficiency.

In Tula Wange, where the governor performed the groundbreaking for the construction of Kaltungo East LCDA Secretariat, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to sustained development interventions in the area.

He noted that the APC-led administration has executed numerous projects in Tula and appealed for continued cooperation and support from the people.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya also announced plans to construct a befitting Palace for the Mai Tula to preserve the cultural heritage and traditions of the community.“Before the end of this tenure, we will complete the construction of the Mai’s Palace in Tula,” he assured.

At Dogon Ruwa, the Governor commissioned a newly constructed Mega Non-Formal Learning Centre, designed to strengthen inclusive educational advancement and human capital development.

He stated that the centre would help mop up out-of-school children and integrate both Islamic and Western education, alongside vocational training.

The Governor urged parents and guardians to enroll their children and take full advantage of the facility, expressing optimism that it would serve as a centre of excellence in knowledge acquisition and skills development.

Earlier in their separate welcome addresses, the Chairperson of Shongom Local Government Area, Hon. Binta Bello, and her Kaltungo counterpart, Hon. Iliya Sulaiman, expressed profound appreciation to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for the numerous developmental projects executed across their LGAs and the state at large.

They assured the Governor of the support of their people and pledged readiness to support him and any candidate he may present as his successor.

In his remarks, the Director-General of the Joint Project Development Agency, Builder Mahmood Yusuf, stated that the LCDA Secretariats would be constructed with modern office spaces and facilities required to support effective administration and governance, assuring timely completion of the project.

At Tula Wange, the Majority Leader of the House of Assembly, Hon. Yerima Ladan Gaule, and former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Simon Karu, expressed their appreciation to the Governor for bringing development to their community, assuring him of the continued support and loyalty of their people.
