In accordance with military tradition, the Commandant, Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Major General Oluyemi Olatoye, paid a courtesy visit on the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Division, Nigerian Army, and Commander, Sector 1 Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Abubakar Sadique Muhammad Wase, on Tuesday, 24 February 2026.
A statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Ajemasu Take Jingina, Acting Deputy’ Director,Army public relations,1 division Nigerian Army/sector 1 operation fansar yamma said during the visit to the Division’s Headquarters in Kawo, Kaduna,
General Olatoye expressed profound gratitude to the GOC for the warm reception accorded to his entourage and the Division’s steadfast operational support to the Academy, particularly through the 37 Demonstration Battalion.
The Commandant emphasized that the integration of the NDA into the divisional security structure has significantly enhanced rapid response capabilities against threats within the Academy and surrounding communities .
“We must acknowledge the visible improvements in security around the Nigerian Defence Academy,”
General Olatoye stated. “Under determined leadership, previous security gaps have been closed, ensuring the sustained protection of our personnel, infrastructure, and training activities.”
In his response, General Wase commended the Commandant for his leadership and unwavering support in training and institutional cooperation.
He reaffirmed the Division’s commitment to supporting the NDA and other military formations, noting that seamless collaboration remains the cornerstone of operational success in the region.
The visit concluded with an exchange of souvenirs, the signing of the visitors’ book, and a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
