The First Aid Group of Fitiyanul Islam of Nigeria has honoured the Supreme Leader of Tijjaniyya Sufism in Nigeria, Professor Abubukar Abubukar Yagawal, with an award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the propagation of Islamic teachings and peace-building.
Professor Yagawal, who is also the Commissioner for Research, Planning, Statistics, Information and Library Services at the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), was described as one of the most influential religious leaders in the country.
Presenting the award, the North-West National President of the First Aid Group of Fitiyanul Islam of Nigeria, Zakiru Abubukar Haliru, said the honour represents only a few of the many contributions and humanitarian gestures of the awardee.
He prayed that Almighty Allah grants Professor Yagawal more strength and courage to continue serving Islam and humanity.
In his response, the Supreme Leader of Tijjaniyya Sufism in Nigeria, Professor Abubukar Abubukar Yagawal, expressed gratitude to the group for finding him worthy of the award.
He also used the opportunity to pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, for their unwavering support to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria and for the success of the 2026 Hajj operations.
