The Kaduna State fiscal responsibility commission in conjunction with the state ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs has organised a capacity building workshop for the 23 Local government areas of the state.Speaking while declaring the workshop opened,

Gov Uba Sani said the workshop reflects the administration collective resolve to entrench, Transparency, accountability,and efficiency at the grassroot where governance has its most immediate and enduring impact.

He explained that this “intervention is both timely and necessary. Citizens across our state rightly demand greater value for public resources and more responsive service delivery”.

According to the Governor,as the tier of government closest to the people, local governments must therefore operate with the highest standards of integrity, professional competence, and strict adherence to fiscal discipline.

Gov Uba Sani maintained that since assuming office, the present administration in the state has pursued deliberate reforms to strengthen institutions, enforce compliance with financial regulations, and cultivate a culture of accountability.

He observed that these efforts have produced tangible results, with Kaduna State ranked as Nigeria’s most transparent and accountable state for two consecutive years on the Transparency and Integrity Index.

Gov Uba Sani therefore said the workshop is designed to deepen understanding of fiscal responsibility, enhance budgetary discipline and procurement integrity, and strengthen oversight mechanisms at the local level.

He also reaffirmed his administration commitment to prudent, transparent, and accountable management of public resources remains unwavering, for sustainable development is anchored not only in what we spend, but in how faithfully we steward the public trust.

The workshop has in attendance all the 23 Local government chairmen,and other stakeholders.
