As the New year begins,The Executive Chairman of Zaria Local Government, Engr. Jamil Ahmad Muhammad (Jaga), chaired the 11th Executive Council Meeting, where key governance and development issues affecting the Local Government were extensively discussed.

During the meeting, following the formal presentation of the new Director of Administration and Finance (DAF), the Council, under the leadership of Engr. Jaga, approved several critical projects, aimed at strengthening infrastructure, healthcare delivery, water supply, and security across Zaria Local Government.

The approved projects include:

1. Power Infrastructure Development:Construction of 920 metres of 11KV ITC line, construction of 1,140 metres of TDN line, and the installation of three (3) 500KVA substations at three strategic locations within Zaria.

2. Drainage and Flood Control:Construction of one (1) box culvert at Gidan Maliki (Dutsen Abba) to enhance drainage and prevent erosion and flooding.

3. Healthcare Strengthening:Purchase of essential hospital equipment for Primary Health Care centres in Kwaba, Jakara, and Anguwan Bashir, to improve access to quality healthcare services.

4. Water Supply and Sanitation:Repair and rehabilitation of 130 hand-pump and solar-powered boreholes across the 13 wards of Zaria Local Government, to ensure access to clean and safe drinking water.

5. Security Support:Purchase of eight (8) tyres for security operational vehicles deployed at the Dorayi Rapid Response and Wusasa Rapid Response (MOPOL) units, to enhance security operations and rapid response capability.

After the Council meeting, the Chairman presided over the Security Committee Meeting, which brought together security agencies, religious leaders, and community stakeholders.

Engr. Jaga commended all security agencies for their continued readiness and dedication, noting the remarkable progress recorded in 2025, with Zaria Local Government currently recording zero cases of banditry, kidnapping, and armed robbery.

He also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of religious and community leaders in building and sustaining peace across the nooks and crannies of the Local Government Area, while emphasizing the need to sustain the current momentum in order to consolidate these gains and maintain a consistently low crime rate.

The meeting was attended by the Vice Chairman, Local Government Secretary, District Head of Zaria (Kewaye), leaders of JIBWIS and CAN, representatives of Immigration, FRSC, DSS, NSCDC, Correctional Centre, KADVIS, SIB, Ministry for Local Government, DAF Zaria Local Government, as well as DPOs from Zaria City, Danmagaji, and Dambo Divisions

A statement signed by Abdullahi Abubakar lawal, Special assistant on new media to the Chairman said after the meetings, Engr. Jaga received an award from the Sayyada Jamila Group, welcomed several guests, and continued engagements with individuals, reaffirming his commitment to inclusive governance, peace, and people-centred leadership in Zaria Local Government.
