In Kano State, hundreds of key stakeholders of the Bichi Local Government Area of our Senatorial District, Kano North, led by a former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), Professor Armaya’u Hamisu Bichi, yesterday backed the second-term bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and appealed to me to contest for the governorship election of our state, Kano.

The stakeholders from across the 11 wards of Bichi LGA took turns enumerating the numerous projects, including the multibillion-naira power substation project attracted to the LGA, by the Deputy President of the senate.

In their summation, they stated that there is no going back on their support for President Tinubu’s reelection and that their calls for me to contest in the Kano Governorship election are a collective decision. “Anyone against it is an enemy of Bichi and Kano State,” they said.

Professor Armaya’u, Chairman of the Senior Legislative Aides Forum (SLAF) of Bichi LGA, Abdullahi Salisu Mai Sudan, Director of the NOUN study centre in Bichi, Dr Sani Barau, and a grassroots politician, Alhaji Rabiu Beli, expressed optimism that, Insha’Allah, the victory is ours come 2027.

Mai Sudan said, ” We are not dragging you into the governorship contest because of our individual interest, but rather because you have the capacity to move our state forward.

Aside from the signature project, N40bn power substation you sited in Bichi, you have constructed many roads, hospitals, a football field, schools and mosques, among others. Allah SWT, who gives power to whomever He wants, will make you the next governor of Kano State .”Dr Sani Barau: ” You have done everything for us in Bichi.

This is payback time. In our study centre, we have 330 housewives, among them a 59-year-old woman pursuing degree programmes. No going back in our support for you until you are sworn in on May 29, 2027, as the governor of Kano State.

“Professor Armaya’u: ” Bichi will give you the highest votes, Insha Allah. Because we are all with you and you have done tremendously well for us in Bichi.

You have the capacity to transform Kano into an educational hub in Africa, a hub of sports and commerce on the continent. Anyone who is against you is an enemy of Kano.

” Responding, Senator Barau Jibrin thanked them for the visit, prayers, and appreciated the support of the people of Bichi always. I have always won in Bichi in all my electoral contests. I’m for the people of Bichi, and they are for me. I will always cherish them. I hold them in high esteem.

The power substation was sited in Bichi to stimulate the local economy and, by extension, the Kano North Senatorial District and the state as a whole. When completed, manufacturing companies will emerge, our youths will be engaged, and commercial activities will flourish. Power is central to the economic vibrancy of a community.
