The Executive Chairman of Zaria Local Government Council, Engr. Jamil Ahmad Muhammad (Jaga), has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the renowned Zaria-based Islamic scholar, Sheikh Usman Idris Kusfa (Rigi-Rigi), who died on Sunday night at the age of 57. The late scholar is survived by four wives and thirty-seven children.

Engr. Jaga, in a condolence message, described the demise of Sheikh Usman Idris Kusfa as a great loss not only to the Tijjaniyya community, but also to Zaria Local Government, Kaduna State, and the wider Muslim Ummah.

He noted that the late scholar was a towering religious figure, a respected community leader, and a committed advocate of peace, unity, and moral re-orientation in society.

This was contained in a condolence message signed by Ishaq Galadima the chief press secretary office of the Chairman Zaria local government made available to newsmen.

According to the Chairman, Sheikh Kusfaโ€™s teachings, humility, and unique approach to Islamic propagation inspired generations and contributed significantly to communal harmony and social stabilityโ€”values that remain essential to effective grassroots governance and sustainable development.

The Janaza prayer for the late scholar was conducted in accordance with Islamic rites and led by the Chief Imam of Zazzau, Sheikh Dalhatu Kasim Imam.

The burial was witnessed by the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Malam Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli, CFR, alongside the Chairman of Zaria Local Government Council and thousands of mourners from across the country.

While praying to Allah (SWT) to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased and grant him Jannatul Firdaus, Engr. Jaga also prayed for Allah to grant the family, students, and followers of the late Sheikh the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
