The Executive Chairman of Zaria Local Government Council, Engr. Jamil Ahmad Muhammad Jaga,has this Monday 29 October 2025 led a delegation of engineering consultants and his dedicated team to assess several key intervention projects facilitated by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, GCON.
The tour commenced at Ahmadu Bello University, Kongo Campus, where facilities earmarked for renovation, including some departmental buildings and the administrative block, were inspected.
The delegation then proceeded to the Zaria Education City Project at Kofar Gayan, which is making steady progress, alongside the new Government Girls Secondary School Project within the same axis.
The inspection further covered the Gambo Sawaba Hospital site, where construction of the new College of Health Sciences is already at an advanced stage.
The Chairman and his team also visited Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, reviewing three major ongoing projects: the College of Agriculture, the Sports Academy, and the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences.
The Chairman expressed satisfaction with the quality of work, describing the projects as โclear testimonies of the Speakerโs unwavering commitment to education, healthcare, and youth development in Zaria.โ
Later that day upon returning to the Council Secretariat, the Chairman engaged with several community groups to foster inclusiveness and strengthen collaboration. These included the Women Wing of CAN (Zaria LG Branch), the Christian Teachers Association (Zaria Branch), as well as the GSS Kofar Jatau Old Principals, Old Students, and Stakeholders Committee, with whom he deliberated on issues of mutual concern and community development.
The Chairman also received Dr. Jamil Garba from Kufena Ward, recently inducted as a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria and conferred with the title of Consultant in Public and Community Health. Dr. Garba distinguished himself by winning multiple prestigious awards, including the Prof. C.L. Ejembi Prize for Best Part II Dissertation, the Prof. Olodele A.A. Prize for Best Part II Candidate, and the JD Soleye Prize for Best Candidate in Part II and Best Dissertation.
The Chairman warmly congratulated Dr. Garba, praying for his continued success and expressing confidence that his achievements will inspire the youth of Zaria to strive for excellence.
The Chairman also later in the day i paid condolence visits to bereaved families, including the Garba Kofa family over the passing of Hajiya Aisha Garba Kofa; the family of Late Mallam Aliyu Khalid at Dandaji, Gangare, Tudun-Wada; the family of Late Malam Garba over the loss of his son, Surumbai; and Malam Babangida of FCE over the demise of his daughter at Gangare, near Khadija Iyande Mosque.
A statement signed by the special adviser/ chief press secretary to the chairman,Ishaq Galadima said the chairman prayed for Allahโs mercy upon their departed souls and for divine comfort for their families in this time of grief.
